In this foundational level, students are introduced to the sounds of each letter in the alphabet. They will develop the ability to recognize and pronounce the initial sounds of words, and accurately spell the beginning sound when they hear it.

At this level, students learn to identify and pronounce short vowel sounds and blend consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) patterns. They begin combining letters to form simple words and gain the ability to read short words independently. Students will also be able to spell sounds created by two-letter combinations, further strengthening their early reading and writing skills.

In this stage, students advance to reading and spelling more complex words. They will master double and triple consonant blends, as well as long vowel sounds, enhancing both their reading fluency and spelling accuracy. This level equips students with the skills to decode and construct a wider range of words with confidence.
